Once Upon a Time There Were Three Little Girls...

CHARLIE'S ANGELS CELEBRATE 50TH ANNIVERSARY AT PALEYFESTLA IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA 4/6/26 Like many of you, I came of age during the pop culture phenonemon of "Charlie's Angels" on ABC-TV in the 1970s. It was one of the first shows that starred multiple women characters where the show wasn't centered around dating, men or getting married. Instead, it was an action-packed, sometimes campy hour focusing on fighting crime, arresting the bad guys -- all while these women drove cool cars and dressed in the latest 70s fashion.
The first season of "Charlie's Angels" airing in 1976 exploded in the ratings catapulting Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith and Farraw Fawcett-Majors to instant mega stardom. Women and men, boys and girls, tuned in making the show a hit. The series ended in 1981. It has lived on in syndication for over fifty years!
In its second season, Farrah Fawcett abrutply left the show over salary and contractural constraints -- Farrah's iconic bathing suit poster alone made her the most popular woman on the planet for awhile. Movie offers came pouring in and Farrah soon left her fellow Angels behind and the American TV audience wasn't too happy about it. In stepped Cheryl Ladd (as Jill Munroe's (Farrah's) younger sister and eventually the audience welcomed Cheryl Ladd to the Townsend family. Farrah returned to make six guest star appearances.
On April 6th, 2026 in Hollywood, former Angels Kate, Jacyln and Cheryl gathered to celebrate their inconic show's 50th Anniversary and to thank their devoted TV audience in person. The event was held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, the same theater where the Oscars are held. In a Q and A, the stars discussed their early careers (Kate was on the TV show "The Rookies") and Jaclyn and Cheryl (made TV commercials and other appearances). The trio continue to this day to have a strong sisterhood bond. Kate said they have each other's backs. All three actresses stated they had battled breast cancer and are now doing well. They credit each other for friendship and support in getting through tough times together over the years, including their health scares. The stars also thanked their fellow Angels Shelley Hack and Tanya Roberts for their work in the series, along with the late Bosley (David Doyle) and Charlie (John Forsyth). Finally, Kate, Jaclyn and Cheryl thanked the fans for their endless devotion to the TV series and to their careers 50 years later. The Dolby audience gave the women a standing ovation welcome and fond farewell. There was a great outpouring of love for the trio as they left the stage. Kate, Jaclyn and Cheryl thanked the fans for their endless devotion to the TV series and to their careers 50 years later. Until next time.
