SPIELBERG & UNIVERSAL: PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE EXHIBIT
It was beyond exciting to attend the Universal Studios SPIELBERG and UNIVERSAL: PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE EXHIBIT this month. With the upcoming 50th Anniversary of JAWS (directed by Spielberg and released in the summer of 1975) his home studio Universal displayed a salute to his many blockbuster movies. A salute to a magnificent film career! There was text listing his earlier movies by year with some costunes and props from these memorable hits -- everything from the mechanical E.T. finger, to the bikes the kids rode in the same movie -- to the Oscar Spielberg won for directing "Schindler's List". This exhibit was private for Universal employees and for a celebrity-packed dedication ceremony for the new Steven Spielberg Theater on the Universal lot. The theater is part of a new 84,000-square-foot building called The Commons, designed to resemble a spinning film reel as an homage to filmmaking.
Here are just a few of the photos I took from my visit. Hope you enjoy seeing them! Steven Spielberg is an artistic treasure -- producing and directing some of the greatest and biggest movies in screen history. At age 78, he says he never plans to retire. LUCKY us!
